Katy Perry’s Cleavage Too Revealing for Sesame Street Producer’s

Sesame Street producers have pulled an episode that was set to show Katy Perry playing dress up with Elmo. I know this isn’t exactly “new” news, but I felt it was worth posting about anyway – mostly because I think the producers are just plain wrong on this one. Sesame Street producers apparently decided to cancel the episode after several parents saw promotional videos for the upcoming TV show and then complained about Katy’s outfit and cleavage, saying it was just too revealing for kids. After seeing the above video of the proposed Katy Perry / Sesame Street appearance, I just don’t agree. Sure, her top is partially made of see-through material, but it doesn’t show anything inappropriate for children. Nor is it revealing or disturbing – in any way, shape, or form.

I know this is going to be offensive to some, but I think this is absolutely ridiculous. People who complain about this amount of “skin” showing are the same people who complain about absolutely anything and everything. These are the same people that make the world impossible to live in, because they simply “like” to complain. I mean, seriously, you honestly feel that seeing Katy Perry dressed this way is going to somehow scar your child for life? Really?? They see way worse than this on a trip to Wal-Mart on any given day. Are you going to stop taking them out in public now as well?

Rather than take the chance, Sesame Street producers decided to pull the plug on the episode saying…

Sesame Street has a long history of including athletes, actors, musicians and artists. Sesame Street has always been written on two levels, for the child and adult. We use parodies and celebrity segments to interest adults in the show because we know that a child learns best when co-viewing with a parent or care-giver.

We also value our viewer’s opinions particularly those of parents. In light of the feedback we’ve received on the Katy Perry music video which was released on YouTube only, we have decided we will not air the segment on the television broadcast of Sesame Street, which is aimed at preschoolers. Katy Perry fans will still be able to view the video on YouTube.

Upon learning that her Sesame Street episode had been canceled, Katy took to her Twitter page saying, “Wow, looks like my play date with Elmo has been cut short! If you still wanna play see it at www.katyperry.com Tag you’re it, Elmo!” I’m on your side, Katy. I feel this is just ridiculous.
