So, this guy in Alaska found two adorable Grizzly Bear cubs with their dead mother. One of the cubs survived and the guy managed to raise it to an adult Grizzly. Take a look at the pics below and you will see how his family interacted with the bear as it grew to adulthood. The bear is very gentle and comes and goes as he pleases. And, get this, the bear eats at the kitchen table and is even housebroken!

Artist Jeremy Mann lives and works in San Francisco where he creates these wonderful cityscapes using oil paints.

Jeremy relies on a wide range of techniques to create these cityscapes – including surface staining, the use of solvents to wipe away paint, and the application of broad, gritty marks with an ink brayer. The finished paintings are dark, urban streets seemingly drenched in rain and mystery. Mann also paints the human figure, still lifes, and landscapes. Commercials often escape our attention. They are often just an irritating distraction during your favorite TV shows or, with the advent of TiVo, simply images whizzing past in silence.

Sometimes ads can be creative, thought-provoking and funny. They can catch our attention and make the product desirable, not because of false claims of advertising or catchy jingles, but because they are creatively filmed and provoke a smile or make us think. You probably wouldn’t want to buy a product without researching its trustworthiness and ability to meet your needs, but aren’t you more likely to look into the purchase if its commercial sticks in your mind because it made you laugh, tear up or share it on Facebook?

Recently, the Detroit Auto Show voted on the top 10 best commercials for cars of the past 25 years. Ads from many different companies were nominated, and the content varies from humorous to serious and touching.

It works to the car manufacturer’s benefit if their commercials stick in the viewer’s mind. A clever and catchy phrase or a touching and powerful scene (think the recent Dodge Ram “God Made a Farmer” Superbowl ad) can be an effective marketing tactic. Targeted consumers looking for new or used cars may be more likely to test drive a car that, say, cute hamsters seem to be having a blast driving it through the streets.

Volkswagen

Cultural references often work effectively toward catching consumer’s attention, and Volkswagen used a well-recognized cultural icon, Darth Vader,  to get a smile out of viewers. A young child, obviously infatuated with the Star Wars movies, is dressed as Darth Vader and spends his day running around trying to influence things with the force. He is unsuccessful until his father comes home and, at least in his son’s eyes, proves his powers. This Superbowl ad caught 55 million viewers attention, both online and during airtime. The ad makes you laugh and say “aww.”

Another nominee from Volkswagen, the “Lamp Post” ad is simple but hilarious. Two men, wrap up a lamp post in padding and put up a poster. The last shot of the ad is a man, captivated by how cheap and attractive the vehicle is, walking directly toward the pole. Thoughtful, huh?

Honda

Honda, looking to revamp a brand that until then had a bit of an image identity problem, came out with their famous “Cog” ad. The ad was shot in one take, and features a Rube-Goldberg machine-type set up— a complex series of reactions that accomplish a fairly simple task, in this case releasing the Accord banner— that features different parts of their vehicle. The pieces gradually get larger until it reaches the full car. The ad culminates with the Accord banner being released. The ad focuses on Honda’s desire to be seen as an intelligent decision to car buyers, but also a fun and quirky one too.

Anyone who has watched an episode or two of shows like America’s Next Top Model can testify to the power of makeup. Makeup can make someone prettier or can even turn an average person into a supermodel. Sometimes, however, makeup can have the opposite effect and turn the wearer into something scary or even atrocious. We’re not trying to send the message that only by putting on a lot of makeup on, can a person become beautiful or attractive. As you can see by some of these photos, a lot of makeup can actually make a person look much, much worse. However, the right makeup, hair style, outfit, etc. can certainly make a huge difference in one’s appearance – as you can see by the dramatic transformations here.

Let’s face it, all TV shows exist within the fairly strict confines of the cultural ‘vacuums’ in which they were created. Funny hairdos, outdated language, and crazy wardrobes aside though, some shows – no matter which decade they hail from – have somehow managed to withstand the rigorous and often unforgiving test of time. Here’s a few of the very best, and why they might still be worth watching after all these years…

1. I Love Lucy (1951 – 1957)

The Lucille Ball/Desi Arnaz duo definitely broke new ground technically during their show’s highly successful run – taped in front of a live audience, three cameras used instead of just one – but it was the zany redhead’s spirited antics that drew in viewers and kept them laughing for six seasons. But even more than just Ball’s comedic abilities, it was the brilliant simplicity of the scripts/situations and the performances of the entire cast that made the show seem so lively and fresh even after endless reruns. Add to this a perfect design and near flawless execution, and you’ve got the makings of a timeless small-screen classic.

2. The Twilight Zone (1959 – 1964)

Unique, innovative, and decades ahead of its time, The Twilight Zone might have only survived five seasons, but it produced such a swath of ground-breaking television that its endearing stories depicting paranormal or futuristic realities are still being recycled, parodied, and talked about fifty years later. Rod Serling’s one-of-a-kind voice, the iconic theme music, all those wonderful plot twists, and rich morality tales that still make us ponder the deepest questions. Despite all the copy-cat attempts, no other TV show has been able to capture the same level of brilliance and sincerity as the original Twilight Zone series.

3. MASH (1972 – 1983)

Based off the smash Robert Altman film of the same name, the TV series M*A*S*H became an even bigger hit, running for 11 seasons on CBS and racking up 14 Emmy awards in the process. A lot of what makes the show hold up comes down to the intelligence behind the writing, crossed with a razor-sharp wit that never dulled, even after 251 episodes. A gallows-humor built around a unique cast of characters along with a conscious decision to treat the war and its consequences with absolute seriousness brought out a darker sense of humor and scope of brutal realism that’s just as powerful today as it was three decades ago. There’s something timeless about watching men and women endure the drudgery of life, especially in the face of such adversity that makes M*A*S*H one of the undisputed all-time greats.

Ladies. You’re strong. You’re independent. You’re a warrior. So why are you sticking with this immature boy who isn’t giving you what you need, let alone what you deserve? It’s time to ditch him. Kick him to the curb. Say peace be with you.

Tough talk, huh?

Well, we all know it’s not easy to leave a guy, and we need to find our inner tiger to do so, or simply to realize it’s time. Why are you still together and wondering what to do? I’ll tell you. Because the initial romance was so fairytale. You weren’t looking for a boyfriend, right? He just came along and swept you off your feet. But you’re not feeling it anymore. And you haven’t for awhile. You ask yourself a few questions: Could he change? Could it go back to the way it was a year ago before he moved in with you?

No, and NO!

Step One Have Courage

Believe in yourself and your decision to release the Kraken. He’s held you down; not supportive enough; and worst of all, he never tells you that you look pretty anymore. He’s lazy and doesn’t follow through on his promises. He won’t go to dinner with your family and if he does, he gets drunk and embarrasses you. Honey, it’s so time to find someone new. Or, to just take a break from relationships and become independent, once again.

Step Two Be the Bigger Person

There are many methods that women choose in order to break up with an unknowing soul: The “Let’s be friends” conversation or make him jealous tactic. You might become aloof, maybe even a raging lunatic to try to scare him off. You argue with everything he says…These aren’t good methods to avoid madness, ladies. Be the bigger person and offer constructive criticism. For example, instead of saying “YOU don’t care” or “YOU don’t follow through,” instead say, “I feel we aren’t communicating” or “I need some alone time.” Avoid accusations. They can be hurtful and have lingering effects.

Step Three Order the Moving Truck, Now

Before you have the talk, arrange a truck through uShip moving companies or contact a friend or relative with a truck if you don’t have much stuff. Just make some plans and get out quickly. It’s very likely he will sob and you’ll cave and give him another “last chance.” Or, he will get angry and make every day a living hell until he gets out of your place. Hopefully he’ll feel the disconnection too, and he’ll be happy to move onward and upward to new heights.

Step Four Encourage Sharing

To get him going, you’ll need to assist in the sorting and packing of items. This may get a little emotional. Stay strong, girl. Sometimes it’s hard to remember what’s yours vs. his, but since you’re the dumper, keep a generous heart and remember that you can go get a new set of drinking glasses. You can grab another silver wine glass at the Renaissance fair next year. But it will be a little difficult to get an original Dylan vinyl. Keep that. Be strong.

Step Five The Goodbye

This is the tricky part. Do you want to try to be friends? I mean, you did spend over a year of your lives together. You were best friends and lovers for a portion of that time, why does it have to end so abruptly. While friendship works for the very strong of people, it doesn’t work for others. You need to evaluate your personal situation but typically, try not to be there when he leaves and give him some space. No texting that you miss him. Just, no! Being woman enough to let him move on will empower you to stay the course.
